BROMYARD will be playing in Worcestershire Cricket League Division One after all next season.

The Flaggoners Green club looked set to drop to Division Two after finishing second from bottom in 2014 but have now been reprieved after Harvington were relegated due to being unable to field three teams next season.

Fielding three sides is a prerequisite for playing in Division One and the Birmingham and District League.

“It’s very fortunate on our part,” said secretary Edd Oliver.

“I believe it is the first time a Division One club has finished in the bottom two and not been relegated in the 15-year history of the league.

“It’ll be good to still have some Herefordshire derbies with Colwall and Burghill and Tillington.”

Ash Bullock was elected to continue as chairman at the club’s annual meeting after four years in charge.

After three years, Chris Graham, who will continue on the committee, stood down as vice-chairman with Graham Godsall taking his place.

Godsall will continue as the club’s junior coaching co-ordinator after a successful first season.

After returning at the end of the season, James Hine was elected firsts captain, a position he last took on in 2002, with Will Yarnold acting as deputy.

Matt Bullock will continue as first XI coach with Richard Brookes his assistant.

Meanwhile, around 45 players and supporters gathered in the function room at Flaggoners Green for the annual dinner and presentation.
