BROADHEATH Belters were surprisingly held to a 5-5 draw by YMCA Pterodactyls in Paperstation Malvern League Division One.

A superb maximum from Svilen Andreev, including an exciting five-set victory against Michael Siket – his first defeat in the league for three seasons – proved to be the highlight.

Dave White secured YMCA’s other singles victory before combining with Andreev to defeat Siket and Ben Bennett in the doubles.

Ledbury Collection kept up their title challenge with an 8-2 victory against Ledbury Lions with a maximum from Patryk Kovacz, supported by two wins each for Nigel Foreshew and Ann Barnes.

Lions replied with two wins for Hong Kong-based Abbey College student Yeh Tsz Yan in her first appearance of the season.

Manor Park Pumas defeated Ledbury Rovers 6-4 with three wins from Geoff Woodward and one each for Dave Hallam and Jon Dyke.

Ady Marshall and Bob Marshall replied with a brace of victories each for Rovers but lost the crucial doubles to Dyke and Woodward.

In Division Two, Crackpots 'E' continued their fine form with a 9-1 victory over Manor Park Wanderers thanks again to maximums from Colin Dolding and Matt Hodges, backed up by Dave Steen with two. Stan Mason earned Wanderers’ solitary win.

Crackpots 'D' beat Tornados 6-4, featuring three wins for James Palmer and one each for Frank Lane and Alan Forsdyke. Liz Hallam and Ethan Webb won two matches each for Tornados.

Upton defeated CSSC Nomads 8-2 with a maximum from Roger Davies, supported by Peter Quy and Pete Nash with two each. Rob Weston replied for Nomads with two victories.

Poolbrook Rangers and X Police drew 5-5 in Division Three with two wins for Nick Haggar, while Nash and Weston recorded one apiece.

Malcolm Daley was in superb form for X Police with three wins, supported by James Mulka with two.

Nash and Haggar earned the draw for Rangers with a doubles win against Mulka and Alan Preece, while Poolbrook Panthers defeated Crackpots 'B' 6-4 thanks to maximums from Ian Sage and Ewan Gear.

Stan Gynn, Alan Eldridhe and Alan Forsdike hit back with single wins for Crackpots.

Abbeydowne and Manor Park Crackpots shared the points in a 5-5 draw, featuring three wins for Stephen Lindner and one each for Bob Hunt and Ed Palmer.

Niels Eriksson and Chris Burrows replied with two wins each for Abbeydowne and combined to win the doubles against Palmer and Lindner.

Bromyard Hopefuls maintained their unbeaten start to the season with a commanding 9-1 triumph against Poolbrook Juniors.

Ed Tinton, David Gwilt and Martin Gwilt won three matches. Juniors’ sole success came in the doubles for James and Steve Glazzard.
