MOST of the Worcestershire League’s final weekend of matches went according to form as the season ended in sunshine in most places except for near-darkness at Harborne.

In Division One, Worcester maintained a record winning margin of 70 points by consigning Bromyard to a relegation position.

Pershore’s Liam Ridings scored his fourth league century to trump a spirited hundred from Colwall’s Ben Wheeler.

Ridings and Ullrich Boshoff, also of Pershore, ended as the two leading scorers.

Pershore claimed the runners-up trophy, three points in front of Worcester Nomads, who won their third match in succession by beating Belbroughton.

Pedmore beat already-relegated Evesham with fine all-round performances from Dave Skelding and James Burgoyne.

Hagley beat Harvington thanks to runs from Amjad Ali and Joe Lennon.

Redditch just beat Droitwich, despite a century for the visitors’ Kris Corbett, and in the process both clubs ensured survival.

Division Two champions Burghill and Tillington won for the 16th time in 19 games played, beating Worcester Dominies.

They ended 76 points in front of Bewdley, who won at Wormelow to clinch the runners-up spot.

Oldswinford overtook Dominies into third by defeating Enville and Lye finished fifth after triumphing at Cookley.

With the relegation battles decided, Rushwick were put to the sword by Coombs Wood, who scored 433-6 in their 50 overs which included Carl Whyte’s 122.

The home side’s Mark Groves scored 120 in reply but the target was far too much.

Feckenham visited relegated Malvern and Jamie Griffiths scored 123 in his side’s 208-run victory.

Division Three leaders Harborne thirds had to win to ensure they would be crowned champions ahead of Stourport despite starting the day 10 points in front.

However, Stourport recorded a nine-wicket win over relegated Alveley, thanks to 118 not out from Bevan Neill, at 5.44pm.

They then had to nervously wait for over two hours before they could get their hands on the trophy.

News finally came through at 7.56pm that Harborne had claimed maximum bonus points but fallen just short of Chaddesley Corbett’s 282 in a thrilling match that ended in the dark.

Both will be in Division Two next season along with third-placed Bredon, who won at Ross-on-Wye.

Netherton beat Cleobury Mortimer thanks to 104 from Steve Hall, despite 105 from Dave Shorter for the visitors.

Old Vigornians saw off Avoncroft and Alvechurch and Hopwood won at Tenbury.

Division Four champions Bartestree and Lugwardine beat fourth-placed Kidderminster Victoria.

Himbleton finished in runners-up place after beating Halesowen with Stuart Dickenson hitting 153 not out.
