DAVE Reynolds bagged a late equaliser as Malvern Town rescued a 1-1 draw at Willenhall Town in the West Midlands Football League Premier Division.

Town missed keeper Niall Hacking (unavailable), Lee Hooper (injury) and Jamie Thomas (honeymoon) but welcomed back James Lush and Sam Rathbone from holidays.

A blustery wind hindered both sides and neither created many chances early on.

In the fifth minute, Willenhall centre-half Graham Ashton headed over from a corner, before Malvern’s Bryan Craven sent a dangerous ball across the face of goal two minutes later but nobody was on the end of it.

Reece King then produced another fine delivery soon after but Lush mistimed his kick.

Willenhall ‘keeper Ben Holden then saved at Lush’s feet before defender Joe Endacott went off with an injury and Malvern had a King effort disallowed on 29 minutes for a foul.

Following a free-kick, Willenhall’s Ryan Ward ran through the middle and, with keeper Chas Weaver advancing, coolly chipped the ball into the net to give his side the lead.

Malvern looked for an equaliser but Reynolds mistimed his kick from another chance.

Malvern then dominated the second period and Holden pushed away a dangerous Reynolds free-kick.

In the 78th minute, some fine one-touch football ended with Craven’s header from Aaron Richards’ cross being held by Holden.

Five minutes from time, Malvern went closer to equalising but a shot hit Reynolds on the line.

However, one minute from time, Craven crossed for Reynolds to finally fire home the leveller.

Malvern’s Jake Hollylee hit the bar late on and, following five minutes of injury-time, a draw was probably the fair result.

The under 21s beat Stafford 3-0 in Division Two and are second in the table.

Powick Rangers are fifth after thrashing Red Star Alma 6-2.

They visit Wyrley Reserves on Saturday (3pm).

Bromyard Town lead Division One following a 6-2 hammering of fellow high-fliers Worcester Raiders.

They host Bustleholme on Saturday (3pm).
