Williams says Bulls must grow up quickly

GOALKEEPER Luke Williams has called on Hereford United to “grow up quickly” in their search for vital points.

Williams is part of a youthful Bulls team that has struggled to adjust to life in the Southern League Premier Division having managed just one win in six matches.

Tomorrow they entertain Burnham (3pm), two places below them in 20th, looking to bounce back from the 2-1 home defeat against 10-man Redditch United on Bank Holiday Monday.

Williams, who was on the bench for Aldershot when Hereford avoided relegation from the Conference on the final day of last season, said: “There’s not much between the teams in this league.

“We have to learn from that and grow up really quickly, start playing football and winning games. That, at the end of the day, is where we will be judged.

“The team is still coming together and that could always be used as an excuse but we have to start playing because we just have to get results.”

Williams added: “We went 1-0 down to a sloppy goal and then we did well to come back to 1-1 — the team has got great heart which we have proved already this season.

“But, after that, we just had to be more mature and shut up shop. A point would have been better than nothing.

“To concede a goal like that, especially where we are in the table, it can’t happen.”
