WORCESTER Nomads' Sunday friendly XI achieved their first success of the season with a six-wicket win at Malvern.

The hosts were bowled out for 143 in 39.2 overs with opener Michael Arnold (43) batting solidly.

However, only Andrew Reeson (25) and Lewis Hill (10) provided support against a varied attack.

Ben Beazley (4-28) and Jack Elston gave little away before spinners Anton Madzarevic (3-11) and Tristan Meier (1-29) posed further problems with good spells.

In reply, Dave Pearson (37 not out) and James Claytor (38) rebuilt the innings with a stand of 69 after Chris Prosser (3-13) had Nomads reeling at 16-3.

Alex Claytor (27no) and Pearson saw the Bransford side home with seven overs to spare.

Nomads' academy side lost by 27 runs at Stourbridge in the Worcestershire Sunday Club League Second XI Division.

The hosts scored 171-7 before Nomads were dismissed for 144 despite battling efforts from Oliver Ranscombe (41) and Patrick O'Driscoll (37).

Barnards Green won by 11 runs at Barnt Green after keeping them to 174-9 in reply to 185 all out.

Shulka Anshuman scored 79 for the Malvern side and Jamie Longmore took 4-34.

Birmingham and District Premier League and Worcestershire League matches were wrecked by the rain.
