MALVERN Olympian Liam Killeen has been handed a late call-up to England’s Commonwealth Games squad.

The 32-year-old, a Commonwealth gold medal winner in Melbourne in 2006, will replace David Fletcher in the mountain bike event in Glasgow after the latter suffered a fall in training.

He is now due to take part in the cross-country event next Tuesday.

Killeen has only just returned to the sport after sustaining an injury at London 2012, which cost him a shot at the gold medal.

He was back in action at the British National Cross-country Series at Sherwood Forest in Nottinghamshire earlier this month, finishing eighth having started 59th due to a lack of ranking points.
