A TALENTED youngster from Malvern is celebrating winning a national crown in Somerset.
Alexander Cupper, a year four pupil at The Downs Malvern, Colwall, impressed at the IAPS (Independent Association of Prep Schools) National Fencing Championships at Millfield School, Street.
Competing in the under nines foil category, Cupper produced a dominant display and did not lose a fight en route to the final, which he eventually won 10-2.
His statistics for the day were outstanding, scoring 58 on-target hits and yet only receiving five in return from opponents.
Cupper has been fencing since the age of six and trains with the clubs in Herefordshire and Redditch as well as with The Downs coach at Malvern Hills Sword Fencing.
