MALVERN’S Mark Rowe represented Great Britain in the World Over 50s Seniors Team Championships in Florida.
GB reached the quarter-finals and eventually finished seventh out of 27 teams.
On the way, they beat Venezuela, Turkey and Australia while losing to the hosts from the USA and Argentina.
Playing in 90 degrees heat every day, the humid conditions were more than testing.
Rowe said: “One of my matches lasted three-and-a-half hours and I was lucky enough to walk off court winning 8-6 in the final set.”
In the individual world championships, he won two rounds, defeating a Canadian and an American before exiting to an Italian. The eventual world champion was Swede Mikael Pernfors.
Rowe added: “It was an amazing experience playing for GB and in the world individual championships. I hope one day to get to do it all again.”
