PROMOTED Malvern head to Rushwick tomorrow looking for their first Worcestershire League Division Two win of the season (1pm).

They struggled again at home to Oldswinford and Stourbridge Social, losing by 123 runs after being dismissed for 96.

Only Olly Bendall (24) scored over 20, while Rob Francis (3-49) and Matthew Reed (3-37) took wickets in the visitors’ 219 all out.

Malvern seconds lost by 145 runs at Bartestree and Lugwardine in Division Three.

On a hot day, Malvern won the toss and elected to field but Stephen Beach’s controlled 102 helped the hosts to 293-7 off 50 overs.

Skipper Chay Ankers and Tom Fairclough opened the bowling tightly before Bartestree began to hit out.

Beach was dismissed by second XI debutant Jake Bunday (2-57), while Charlie Heritage claimed 2-32.

Rhys Humm and Lewis Hill opened for Malvern on a good track and kept the scoreboard ticking over until the former hit the ball well but straight to a fielder.

Kieran Smith (8) played patiently before 22 was put on by Jake Powell (11) and Hill (12), who fell lbw despite hitting the ball into his pads.

Each partnership got in and wickets were not lost in clusters but the batsmen could not find the boundary due to tight bowling.

Malvern were all out for 148 in the 42nd over with Ankers (21) and Bunday (19) the pick of the batting alongside 54 extras.
