OMBERSLEY replaced Barnards Green at the top of Birmingham and District Premier League Division One after beating their Worcestershire rivals by five wickets.

The second-placed hosts eased to victory with six overs left after passing the 215-9 set by Green, who slipped to fourth in the table behind Bromsgrove and Harborne.

Jamie Tapper hit 72 and Ashlea Brewer 56 for Green with Chris Harwood picking up 3-39 for Ombersley.

The villagers were then fired by Liam Gwynne (59), Tom Oakley (39) and former Worcestershire player Duncan Catterall (35 not out).

Jon Dovey was the most successful bowler for the Malvern side with 3-44.

Meanwhile, Wolverhampton scored 194-8 at Bromsgrove with Saif Bhojani making 60 before Ash Newdick (40), Jayden Levitt (40) and Joe Dodd (37) took Bromsgrove up into second place.

Worcestershire’s England under 19s international Joe Clarke scored 71 for Oswestry in their defeat to Moseley, while the County’s Graeme Cessford took 4-42 in Shifnal’s six-wicket win against Wombourne.

Knowle and Dorridge continue to pursue the Premier Division title following a three-wicket victory at Brockhampton.

Henry Langford (44) top scored in the Herefordshire side’s total of 192 with leg-spinner Chris Davidson taking 3-35 for the visitors, who were guided to their third win of the season by Aussie Michael Hill’s unbeaten 84.

A sparkling 89no from 67 balls by William Baker boosted Barnt Green to a total of 262-7 against Kidderminster Victoria, who conceded 70 runs off the last five overs.

Ed Pollock scored 48 but Baker’s late onslaught proved crucial with Kidderminster finishing 14 runs short on 248-9.

Craig Wood hit 83 and Michael Hill scored 45 to add to his 3-45 in the Green innings but skipper Andy Sutton (3-38) ran through the middle order to lead his side to their second success of the season.

In Division Two, Andrew Fisher top-scored with 54 in Eastnor’s total of 145 at Old Elizabethans before the Worcester side were steered to a three-wicket win by an unbeaten 43 from Damon Gariff.

Two sides with Premier Division experience lead the way after Leamington Spa beat Whitchurch and Stourbridge defeated Halesowen by five wickets.

Ijaz Yousaf cracked 115 in Whitchurch’s 239-9 but an unbeaten 93 from Lee Hopkins and 42 from Mark Ashcroft took Leamington nine points clear of Stourbridge.

Kester Moseley (62) and Dion Patel (48) helped Halesowen to 194-8 but an unbeaten 56 from Audy Alexander saw Stourbridge canter to victory.

Quatt earned their first Division Three win of the season at home to Astwood Bank, who collapsed from 92 without loss to 164 all out.

Ex-Worcestershire player Steve Adshead smashed 100 and Alex Robinson made 26 before Hayden Cargo stepped up to take 5-36 and Alex Biddle 3-32. Adrian Evans (53) and Tom Whitney (41no) contributed 72 for the fourth Quatt wicket.

The competitive nature of this year’s Premier Division was highlighted by previously winless Dorridge’s 65-run victory which ended West Bromwich Dartmouth’s unbeaten record.

The 2013 champions Shrewsbury sit at the foot of the table after their third defeat in four matches.

Skipper Dave Ball (84), Valeed Butt (45) and Marvarick Perry (45) fired Dorridge to 246 all out at Sandwell Park despite Aqsad Ali’s 5-27.

In reply, Dartmouth were dismissed for 181 with Warwickshire starlet Aaron Thomason taking 3-36. Zeeshan Asif hit 78 for Dartmouth, who stay top.

Shrewsbury were defeated by three wickets at Berkswell, who trail the top two by just two points.

Ed Foster (48), Patrick Butler (47no) and Rob Foster (40) saw Shrewsbury to 217-7.

But 53no from Nick James, 41 from Dominic Ostler and 36 from Alex Unsworth saw Berkswell home with two balls left.
