Derby away victory ensures Colwall head table

COLWALL lead Worcestershire League Division One after Tom Coleman’s century guided them to a 70-run win at Bromyard.
The hosts might have been favourites against their promoted rivals but the defeat did not come as a huge surprise to Bromyard secretary Edd Oliver.
“They always seem to have been a bogey side to us over the years,” he said. “We had them in trouble at 54-5 but Tom is a very good batsman.
“In our defence, I would say the ball got wet and, towards the end of the innings, it was like trying to bowl with a bar of soap.”
Overseas paceman Ahmed Jamal (4-46) cut through the Colwall top order.
The Pakistan ace bowled South African Wehan Joubert and had Nick Panniers caught, both for six.
He bowled James Abel (1) and Dan McKay (4) was run out before captain Dan Head (14) was caught behind by Ian Bullock off Dave Taylor.
But Rory Jones (39), Ben Wheeler (15) and Max Backhouse (27) gave valuable support to Coleman, who compiled an accomplished 114.
Bromyard needed a good start but were in trouble at 5-2. Eral Anderson (35) and Bullock (28) batted well but Bromyard were all out for 182 as Joubert (3-16) impressed.
Colwall host Worcester Nomads tomorrow and Bromyard visit Droitwich (1pm).
