THIRTY-NINE Malvern Joggers made a short trip for one of the highlights of their running calender.

The Crowle 10k, near Worcester, is a firm favourite and did not disappoint with many Joggers achieving personal bests.

First to lead the club home in 13th place was John Newey in 37 minutes 13 seconds.

He was followed by Sam Burnage in 39.21 and James Forrest in 41.03.

Joggers' first woman again was Megan Judge in 43.19 as she battles back from injury. Former chairman Stuart Brown came second in his veterans' over 60s age group.

Other Joggers results were impressive with pbs set by Paula Smy, Jenny Davies and Alex Hewer.

A big cheer was reserved for husband-and-wife Mark and Jane Spicer, who finished the race together.

Birchfield Harriers' Yousef Al-Lathaa won in 33.33.

Joggers tackled the Malvern Ultra event organised by Ultra Running over a 52-mile route from Holt Heath to Malvern over the hills.

The lone Malvern finishers were Chris Smallman (11 hours 44 minutes), Neil Humpage (12.28), Steve Roode (13.01), Ginny Sharp, Lynda Broadway, Mike Anstey (all 13.59), Jude Newman (14.54) and Carolyne Sanders (14.54).

Two Joggers' teams came away with the first and second prizes.

Your Pace Or Mine, comprising Dave Green, Allan Warnock, Glyn Davies, Ian Walwyn, Sharon White and Suzie Lane, clocked 9.12.

Ultra Egos, including Paul Newman, Ewelina Skolimowska, Viv Tolley, Kay Parry, Kareen Mann and Andy Banham, managed 9.59.

At the Worcester half-marathon, Joggers were led by Brown in 1.39, securing him first place in his age category.

He was followed by Graham Cramp (1.42.52), Ian Dyson (1.43.34), Tom Barter (1.47.02), Craig Dolan (1.54.56) and Annabelle Bolton (2.29.12).

Trevor Matty ran 3.56.42 over the marathon distance.

Julie Caseley was drawn to Hereford for the five-mile Beat the Bells.

The race helped celebrate the life of late Wye Valley Runners' Tom Pugsley.

Starting from Hereford Cathedral, the aim was to finish before the peal of the bells stopped after 45 minutes. Caseley was close in 45.41.

Joggers meet every Wednesday at 7pm in Malvern. More details can be found at malvernjoggers.co.uk.
