WORCESTERSHIRE batsman Tom Kohler-Cadmore has been chosen as the young Wisden schools’ cricketer of the year.
Academy product Kohler-Cadmore, 19, follows England players Johnny Bairstow (2008), James Taylor (2009) and Jos Buttler (2010) in winning the award.
He scored a record 1,409 runs in his final season of a four-year scholarship at Malvern College last summer, beating the previous best by ex-Middlesex and England ‘A’ cricketer David Nash.
Kohler-Cadmore, who is on a three-year contract with Worcestershire, averaged more than over 100 for the college. He made his LV= County Championship debut at Hampshire this week.
Mark Hardinges, in charge of cricket at the college, said: “Tom is a tall, powerful, young batsman with a good technique.
“He has achieved so much because he’s a very good player, who at schoolboy level hit the ball like a man. He also has an insatiable appetite for practice and batting.”
Kohler-Cadmore was the first product of the college scholarship scheme and they have a close link with the County.
