WORCESTER Nomads 'A' missed out on the Worcestershire Cricket Board Indoor League Worcester Division One title.

Old Elizabethans clinched the crown with a 57-run win over Droitwich 'A' and Cutnall Green were confirmed as runners-up to reach the county play-offs.

Nomads 'B' were unable to do their 'A' team a favour as they went down by 65 runs to Green after being dismissed for 67 in reply to 132-5.

Batting first, Green seemed nervous and the prolific Matt Harris (47 not out) was found yards down the wicket several times, scrambling back when a run was declined.

But both Harris and Steve Shuck (30) settled down and in the third over took a perfect 18 runs from Nick Jones.

Dom Badger went for 14 in the fourth as Green were motoring at 48-0.

Both batsmen retired in the fifth over, bringing Paul Hutchins and Derek Higgins together.

Higgins (6) went trying to work the ball off middle stump and, while Hutchins was accumulating, others ran themselves out.

Green reached 95-2 after eight overs but quickly went to 110-4 and Harris was joined by Hutchins, who was then run-out for 30.

Harris just failed to get to his half-century but the target for fifth-placed Nomads ‘B’ soon proved too much.

The match was effectively over after four overs which produced just 20 runs.

Despite game efforts by Joe Laugher (21) and Jones (23), Nomads were dismissed for 67.

The county finals night is on Sunday from 6.30pm at Royal Grammar School, Worcester, but will not involve Nomads 'A', who ended up third.

In Division Two, the wooden spoon was decided and Nomads ‘C’ left the equation when they beat second-placed West Malvern, scoring 118-1 with five balls remaining.

West appeared in control when posting a reasonable 117-4 even though they lost two wickets in the final over.

Kevin Gilbert (30), Pete O’Connell (23) and Ben Tanner (26no) were the main contributors.

In reply, Malcolm Jones (25no) and Tim Robinson-Law (22) put on 64 runs for the first wicket before the latter was run-out.

From this platform, Tom Webb (23no) and Josh Hawes (24no) saw Nomads home for a third-from-bottom finish.

Bromsgrove then ended up with the wooden spoon on two points after Old Vigornians beat Droitwich 'B' by 29 runs.

Droitwich's 79 all out was enough to keep them second-from-bottom with Andy Walton (46no) top scoring.

Osman Fiaz (24), Ahsan Fiaz (17), James Bader (26no) and Andy Howard (23no) helped O.V.s to 108-3. With Avoncroft champions, Malvern finished third in the table and Rushwick fourth.
