TALENTED young driver Josh Martin is hoping to one day follow the well trodden route from karting into his ultimate dream of Formula One.
The 11-year-old from Eldersfield, near Ledbury, has made a great start to pursuing his goal after taking up karting at the age of eight.
The likes of current English Formula One aces Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button have both made the progression from the smaller vehicles.
In 2013 alone, Martin won the Southern National Kart Racing Association Championship, the Kartmania Championship and the Welsh Championship ‘C’ Plate.
He also finished second in his club championship and finished off the season with a runners-up spot in the Celtic Cup at Llandow in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales.
This year, Martin hopes to compete at the Super One British Karting Championship in the Honda Cadet class, which will be shown on Sky’s Motors TV channel.
The John Masefield High School, Ledbury, year seven pupil will race over six rounds at various tracks around the country and is looking for muchneeded sponsorship.
Martin does not run with a big outfit and instead relies on a successful team effort with his father Dean.
They depend on each other to make the right decisions regarding set-up and tyre choice.
The youngster is able to let his father know what is happening with the kart after each session so changes can be made.
