LEDBURY Town hope to play their first match in three weeks tomorrow when they host Hereford Lads Club in a West Midlands Football League Division One Cup derby (3pm).

The New Street side have not kicked a ball in anger since drawing 4-4 at Mahal on December 21, leaving them 11th in the table.

Home matches against Stone Old Alleynians and Wyrley were postponed due to waterlogged pitches, as was Wednesday night’s Worcester Infirmary Cup second-round tie at Malvern Town.

Tomorrow, Ledbury players have their fingers crossed for better weather in order to stage their first-round encounter against Lads Club, who are one place above them in the division but level on 21 points from 18 games. It has been a similar story for Ledbury reserves, who have also seen their fixture list hit by the elements, the most recent being last Saturday’s trip to Herefordshire League Division One leaders Tenbury United.

The reserves remain fourth in the table, level on 17 points with Orleton Colts in third and two points behind second-placed Woofferton, although they retain a game in hand over both. Meanwhile, the Herefordshire Sunday Football League is due for a return to action for the first time since December 15 with Premier Cup ties.

Leaders Ledbury Allstars have a tough test at second-placed Burghill Rangers, while Bromyard Colts go to Roebuck and basement boys Atletico Ledbury host Vaga, weather permitting.

l Ledbury Rugby Club are set to visit Southam tomorrow in Midlands Three West (South).

It has been almost a month since the Ross Road outfit last played, winning 16-12 at Pershore on December 14, as their home match against Shipston fell foul of the weather last Saturday.

Ledbury are fourth in the table on 38 points, three behind third-placed Old Yardleians and only five shy of leaders Pinley. Southam are eighth with 26.

Prior to the Pershore victory, Ledbury defeated Old Yardleians 26-21 and drew 25-25 at Old Wheatleyans.

When they met Southam back in October, Ledbury recorded a 28-20 success.

Southam have not played since December 14 when they saw off Cheltenham North 35-21 to end a run of five successive defeats.
