BROMYARD enjoyed a satisfying 27-12 victory at local rivals Tenbury in Midlands Four West (North).

The Herefordshire club go into the festive break in sixth place in the 11-team table with a 50-50 record of wins and defeats from 10 games.

Despite playing into a strong headwind, early pressure saw Tenbury’s forwards caught offside and Chris Rowberry kicked the points. Tenbury responded and veteran Will Morgan cut a superb angle to run in a converted try from the 22- metre line.

Galvanised Bromyard camped in the hosts’ half and inspirational captain, prop Jamie Williams, took the ball at speed to crash over from close range.

Rowberry converted before Tenbury struck the post with a penalty.

With the wind behind them in the second-half, Bromyard’s forwards were thwarted by their former prop Rob Yeomans.

Tenbury’s pack dominated but Bromyard brought their young backs into the equation.

They secured quick ball to Bobby Ralph and John Parker drew the full-back before offloading for John Pudge to charge over.

Tenbury responded through Will Gough’s push-over try but Rowberry then fed Rob Legge, who cut inside to make the score 20-12.

Greg Leighton and Toby Rivers made forcing runs for in-control Bromyard and, from a scrum just outside the 22, Martin Reece- Pitt launched Parker, who shrugged off three tackles and scored under the posts with Rowberry converting.
