LEDBURY Town Reserves made a dramatic exit from the Jock Handley Cup second round at Holme Lacy on penalties.

An epic encounter ended 3-3 before their Herefordshire League Division One rivals progressed 4-3 on spot-kicks.

Carl Wildig and Adam McTear scored during a stronger second period for Ledbury following a 28th-minute opener from the hosts. However, Holme Lacy smashed a corner home seconds from time to take the game into an extra half-hour.

The hosts went ahead again on 105 minutes only for James Dean to hammer home two minutes from the end to demand penalties.

McTear, Wildig and Nick Welch scored spot-kicks for Ledbury but Curtis Williams and Dean were denied by the keeper.

  • Newent Town are third in Gloucestershire Northern Senior League Division Two after a 2-1 win over Smiths Athletic with goals from Dorian Colling and Cosmin Micula.
