MALVERN Town Wanderers Swifts continued their winning ways with a hard fought 2-0 victory against fourthplaced Tewkesbury Town Colts in Evesham Ambassador League Under 14s pool ‘B’.

The home side were once again indebted to striker Patrick Oakley, whose pace was a constant threat to the Tewkesbury side.

Malvern went ahead after 15 minutes when Elliot Street’s defence-splitting through ball was met by Oakley, who calmly sidefooted past the advancing keeper.

The home side extended their lead after 22 minutes when the impressive Ben Meredith chipped the ball over the Tewkesbury defence and once again Oakley was on hand to apply the finishing touch.

The second-half saw Malvern again dominate, but Oakley was denied a hattrick by the crossbar and Street’s half-volley was dealt with by an acrobatic save.

The Swifts keep their second place in the table with just one league defeat this season.
