NEARLY 700 year five and six boys and girls took part in the Worcestershire West School Games cross-country on Malvern College Common.
There were 12 races overall with categories for joggers, runners and athletes and 675 youngsters participated.
The winning schools were Suckley Primary (year five boys); Northleigh CE Primary (year five girls); Somers Park Primary (year six boys) and Eldersfield Lawn CE Primary (year six girls) and all children involved received certificates for their involvement.
Graham Abercrombie, School Games organiser for Worcestershire West, said: “This has been the biggest and the best cross country we have had in our district.
“It offers a wonderful understanding of how primary schools are embracing sport like never before with almost double the amount of schools and children taking part this year compared to last year.
“This message is consistent with all events that have taken part so far this year with all School Games competitions and is extremely encouraging.”
