TWO Malvern Joggers conquered the South Tyrol Three Peaks Alpine Run in Sexten in north-east Italy.
Paul Webb and Sarah Heatley were among 1,100 who tackled a 17.5-kilometre route with an elevation gain of 1,350 metres.
Heatley ran a superb time of two hours 30 seconds, while Webb recorded 3.06 which was well within the four-hour cut-off time.
They then had to walk back along a steep 10km route down to the valley.
Webb admitted: “When we started the race, we both thought never again. But altitude must have damaged our brain cells as we both have now decided to return next year better prepared and with more time to acclimatise.”
- Malvern’s Ben Clarke competed at the English Schools’ Combined Events Championships in Birmingham.
The 14-year-old, a pupil at The Chase School and member of Worcester Athletic Club, finished 11th from a field of nearly 40 in the under 15s boys’ pentathlon.
