Lions roar to Crackpots win

LEDBURY Lions enjoyed a 7- 3 victory over Crackpots ‘E’ in Malvern League Division One.
The win arrived thanks to two victories each from Jim Ahern, Richard Smith and Steve Meredith.
Smith and Meredith combined to take the doubles in five sets against Colin Dolding and Dave Steen.
Dolding replied with two victories for Crackpots together with a singles success for Matt Hodges.
CSSC Ramblers were held to a 5-5 draw by Manor Park Express who countered with two wins from Pete Griffiths and Dale Dickinson alongside Ray Page’s single effort.
Alan Salisbury and Graham Thompson replied with two victories each for Ramblers and the doubles against Dickinson and Griffiths.
Ledbury Collection were victorious again 7-3 against Old Boys despite Dave White maintaining his 100 per cent record. Craig Preece, Nigel Foreshew and Trevor Davies took two each for Collection.
Preece and Foreshew combined to defeat White and Steve Glazzard in the doubles.
Old Boys enjoyed an 8-2 win against Ledbury Rovers thanks to maximums from White and the returning Wayne Chopping. James Dance and Ady Marshall were victorious for Rovers.
Manor Park Travellers were again successful in Division Two with a 9-1 victory over CSSC Nomads through three singles successes for Toby Wren and Martin Snee.
Nomads’ only victory was Dave Hayes’ five-set effort over Ken Hipwell.
X Police lost 8-2 to Poolbrook Dynamos as Tom James and Geoff Burford won three games but lost the doubles to Steve Mulka and Alan Preece. Mulka also enjoyed a solitary singles victory over John Phillips.
Devils continued their strong Division Three start with a 7-3 victory over Manor Park Crackpots thanks to three victories from Paul Lythgoe who also teamed up with Liz Hallam to take the doubles.
Hallam contributed two singles victories and Denis Chetwood one, while Stephen Lindner won two games for Crackpots and Will Jones one.
Abbeydowne enjoyed a 6-4 win over Panthers despite a maximum from Ewan Gear who also partnered Ian Sage to claim the doubles. Chris Burrows, Niels Eriksson and Len Hitchman won two games each for Abbeydowne.
Crackpots ‘B’ won 9-1 against Abbey College thanks to the unbeaten Ted Cates and Matt White, supported by Alan Forsdyke with two victories.
Abbeydowne followed up with a 6-4 win against Team Tekkers despite Ben Meredith winning his three matches and the doubles with Patrick Oakley.
Hitchman, Burrows and Roy Holland won two matches each for Abbeydowne.
