Bransford stableford prize won by Wetton
4:00pm Wednesday 18th September 2013 in Sport
BRANSFORD’S Daphne Hayes achieved her first hole-in-one on the par-three, 144-yard 15th.
But her five-wood ace did not help her win the ladies’ August stableford league with Pauline Wetton triumphing with 34 points ahead of Anne Hamilton (33).
Forty pairs, many from far afield, competed in the club’s senior pairs open.
Home duo Ferey Ghani and Brian Corfield recorded 46 points to finish three shots ahead of Trevor Atkinson and Pete Sheppard (Bransford), Tony Cutler and Bill McIntosh (Hagley) and Alan Besian and Des Whetter (Brickhampton).
Alan Wallcroft (Bransford) and Dennis Nock (Cleobury Mortimer) and Bill Bowen and Tony Hardiman (both Bransford) had 42 each.
McIntosh was nearest the pin on the fifth and 15th holes, while Sheppard won the straightest drive on the sixth.
The men’s seniors recorded another home win, beating Evesham 5-2, but lost 4-3 at Burghill Valley.
