Hat-trick of series wins for star Pile

VC Sevale clinched the interclub time trial series against Evesham Wheelers and finalround hosts Worcester St John’s.
With two outright wins and a close second, the Malvern club posted a cumulative time of five hours 23 minutes two seconds.
Wheelers were second on 5.33.51 and St John’s close behind with 5.35.41.
Sevale won the final event on the 10-kilometre course at Kinnersley with 46.23 followed by St John’s (47.28) and Wheelers (50.11).
The circuit was no easy spin and a strong turn-out of 41 riders ensured competitive racing.
Sevale’s Jez Pile put in a strong performance again, winning in 22.33, which was a course best by 12 seconds, and securing a hat-trick of series victories.
Simon Wix (Wheelers) was second with 23.33 followed by St John’s Martin Lines (23.40) and Joel Turvey (23.48). Mike Amery was the second Sevale rider home in 23.53.
Sevale hosted their annual 10-mile club championship, postponed from earlier in the season, on the Chance Lane course.
On-song Pile triumphed with 22.41 which was 48 seconds ahead of the secondplaced Amery (23.29), who was riding fixed.
Brian Boswell was third in a time of 24.06.
