MALVERN St James School pupil Paige Hunt has made it through to the Barclays Ball Kids final on Saturday, April 13.

She progressed through a regional trial in West Bromwich involving nearly 100 youngsters and could be one of 30 ball kids for November’s ATP World Tour Finals at The O2, London.

Hunt, 13, said: “If I were to be picked as a Barclays Ball Kid, it would be an amazing experience.

“I actually went to The O2 last year to watch the ATP World Tour Finals and it was advertised there so I decided to sign up.

“The trial was all about testing our balance, skills and agility but I think the coaches are looking for someone that is professional as well.

“I can’t wait to take part in the national final and if I got through to the squad of 30 that would be fantastic.”

  • Two Manor Park teams finished first and second in the ladies’ indoor social league which ran on Thursdays from September.

Team Bees Knees, captained by Jenny Poole, were undefeated with nine victories and Mums Behaving Badly, led by Elaine Fleming, came second with seven wins and two losses.

The league attracted 10 teams from around Worcestershire.

Easter junior camps are being staged indoors and outdoors at Manor Park, Malvern. For details, email info@poyndertennis.com or call 01684-574010.
