Rangers move five points clear
CSSC Ramblers went five points clear at the top of Paperstation Malvern League Division One with a hard-fought 7-3 win over Manor Park Cavaliers.
Title rivals Broadheath Belters are 11 points behind but have four matches in hand.
Against Cavaliers, they came from 3-2 down before winning the next five sets to triumph 7-3.
Chris Hewitt was the lynchpin as he won three singles and teamed up with Graham Thompson to take an important doubles, while Alan Salisbury claimed their other set.
Cavaliers' Joe Higgs won twice and Mike Keeley once with three sets going to five games in the match which were all won by Ramblers.
Crackpots 'E' and Ledbury Rovers drew 5-5 as Jack Higgs won three for Crackpots with Colin Dolding winning once and the doubles with Dave Steen.
Rovers' Ady Marshall and Bryan Farr both triumphed twice with James Dance taking their fifth set.
Pterodactyl Old Boys moved up a place in the table following their 6-4 win over Ledbury Lions.
Dave White won three singles for Old Boys, while Steve Glazzard also bagged two and together they took the doubles.
Lions' Steve Meredith triumphed twice, while Jim Ahern and Mike Morgan both won a set apiece.
Manor Park Pumas and Express drew 5-5 with Dave Hallam winning three singles for Pumas, while their other victories came from Jon Dyke and John Hunt.
The Express wins came courtesy of Dave Woodyatt (2), Ray Page and Dale Dickinson with Woodyatt and Dickinson victorious in the doubles. In Division Two, another two matches with maximum points went to Manor Park Travellers putting them firmly at the top of the division.
Martin Snee, Ken Hipwell and Toby Wren swept the board in a 10-0 win over Malvern Tornados and only James Palmer managed a win against Wren when they beat Crackpots ‘D’ 9-1.
Eight sets went to four games when Poolbrook Panthers drew 5-5 with Ripple who beat Abbey College 10-0.
Robert Weston won three and Dave Bradley two for Panthers, while Roger Davies took two and the doubles with Pete Nash who added a singles win along with Peter Quy.
Other results saw Manor Park Crackpots defeat Abbeydowne 7-3, CSSC Nomads see off Devils 7-3 and YMCA Vulcans defeat Crackpots ‘D’ 8-2.
