THE Worcestershire ladies played their first 18-hole competition of 2013.

A stableford was won by Jen Bishop with 31 points, ahead of Ursula Pearson (30) and joint-third Frances Davies and Joan Herbert (29).

Victories for Mary Horrobin, Sue Boardman and Di Wilde, as well as halved matches for Bishop and June Jones, saw the club through the Mail On Sunday competition second round at home to Worcester Golf and Country Club.

Fine conditions prevailed for competitors in the men's three-club contest which raised £350 for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.

New member Richard Sebok (12 handicap) took first place in Division One on 33 points with Mike Ciric (10) second, also on 33.

Division Two went to Mike Bothma (13) with 36 ahead of Rob Schooling (34), while Mike Smith (24) managed the best score of the day of 37 in Division Three with Richard Kay only one point behind.
