Wilkes in ace league triumph

MALVERN United fished the third of their winter league matches at Fishponds, Colwall.
Persistent rain and a cold wind throughout the match made conditions difficult for all participating anglers to catch fish.
In the end, Dave Wilkes claimed his first match win of the season with 6lbs 8oz of roach, perch, ide and bream caught on pole-fished red maggots.
Close behind in second place was Ian Goddard who bagged a similar mix of fish as he weighed in with a total of 5-0.
Other anglers found conditions more difficult in the open part of the pool that was becoming increasingly brown from the strong influx of flood water.
Chris Loveridge caught 2-15, Mike Cooper 2-0 and John Shaw 1-10.
