Bid for share of cash
DISTRICT council leader Di Rayner and Lib Dem parliamentary candidate Richard Burt will call on the Government to release cash for a new community hospital in Malvern.
They will visit health secretary Patricia Hewitt in Whitehall next week and present her with petitions from across the district, supporting calls for the new hospital.
Mr Burt pledged support for the project after visiting South Worcestershire Primary Care Trust for talks earlier this summer.
He said: "I'm delighted that the PCT has applied for a share of the £150 million to be released during this financial year.
"We believe that Patricia Hewitt must now put her money where her mouth is and make Malvern a top priority when it comes to sharing out the cash available for community hospitals."
