As Julie Andrews once said in the Sound of Music ‘let’s start at the very beginning’!

I am Inspector Jane Francis and have recently been given the absolute privilege of having responsibility for the day to day policing of Malvern Hills District which incorporates the pretty town of Upton-upon-Seven and north of the area Tenbury Wells, a market town steeped in history.

Having worked in policing for some 28 years it would be fair to say that the prospect of ‘Blogging’ is a somewhat alien concept to a girl who prefers paper to email and chatting to texting.

I started my career in policing as a Special Constable with Warwickshire before joining West Mercia and being posted to Redditch as a PC.

Moving from the fields of rural Coleshill to the urban offerings of the Kingfisher Centre was something of a culture change.

But always one for a challenge I took it in my stride.

From thereon the years rolled by until that fresh faced girl with not a care in the world entered the arena of juggling balls as the working mum of two, truculent teenagers and the wife of an even more demanding husband!

And now I have left behind the delights of the Crown Gate Centre at Worcester and returned to my roots in the rolling hills of Malvern to do what I enjoy best – rural policing.

Over the coming weeks I will share with you the ups and downs of policing in Malvern and give you an insight as to how we meet the everyday challenges – not least for me how to ‘blog’ successfully!!
