LAST Sunday the first Sunday of Advent was marked at St James Church with the lighting of the first candle in the Advent ring. This was lit by Lucy Warburton and the service was led by Reverend Biddi Kings. Young people Anna Warburton and Hannah Whittal-Williams presented a sketch based on talents and Adam Birch read one lesson and Philip Betts read the gospel. Reverend Sue Irwin conducted the communion service.

Next Sunday Junior Church will be practising their Nativity presentation ready for the performance on Sunday, December 16 at 9.30am. All children are also invited to the Christingle service at St Peter's Church, Powick at 11am in aid of the Children's Society when Christingle oranges will be distributed. Guest preacher is Susan Price, the Diocesan Co-ordinator for the Children's society which supports disadvantaged and homeless children and young people.

Don't forget Sunday's Christmas Fayre at Severn Heights Nursing Home, Old HIlls at 3pm. All the usual stalls, Christmas fayre and entertainment.
