LAST week children from Classes 1 and 2 at Callow End Primary School entertained their parents and grandparents in their play Prickly Hay, giving one afternoon and two evening performances.

Fifty children took part in the Nativity, which had a fun hoedown flavour, being based around the stable boy.

Having swept out the stable with help from his friends he welcomed Mary and Joseph into the stable. A host of angels presented the good news to the shepherds who warmed themselves by the flames, played by children.

The stars led the Wise Men in their bright costumes and the whole company joined in many lively and catchy songs.

Congratulations to all who took part, to the staff and the helpers under direction from Mrs Beard.

Last Sunday in St James’ Church, children of Junior Church gave their version of the Nativity Story using a multitude of costumes, each child taking the part of different characters. The narrators were Sam Lippett and Keiran Shuard; and the children were Alice Lippett, Felicity and Billy Newman, Theo Shuard and George Whitehouse. Elaine Newman worked a puppet theatre while the congregation led the singing of carols. The directors were Helen Lippett, Kay Shuard and Vicky Whitehouse.

On Christmas Eve the crib service will be at St James’ church at 4pm to which all children are invited to dress up (plus adults if you wish!) The Christmas Day communion is at 9.30am.
