LOCAL residents may not be aware that the future of the 675 Ledbury-Wellington Heath-Colwall-West Malvern-Great Malvern bus service is again under threat.

It is listed as “at risk” under the proposed £3 million costsaving programme in Worcestershire County Council-subsidised services.

Although the 675 contract, which crosses the county boundary, is let by Herefordshire CC, a proportion of the subsidy is paid by Worcestershire and if that is withdrawn it seems likely that the bus would cease to serve West Malvern.

That would be a serious blow to those who rely on it – most services have up to a dozen people on leaving the town and many travel to the stops at the Lamb, old people’s homes, village hall, Regents College etc.

WCC is conducting a consultation on the proposals, which will close on January 17. If you have a view you can make it known by visiting worcestershire.
