CONGRATULATIONS to all concerned with last week’s well supported coffee morning at the village hall, which raised a magnificent £445 for the Macmillan Nurses.
There was a stunning selection of cakes, many of them made by chief organiser Chantal Crawford, as well as real coffee plus various produce and plants for sale.
And a raffle with a generous collection of prizes, which also produced a remarkable result, with one purchaser of just 10 tickets having four of them in succession drawn out of the wellshuffled box.
After collecting his prize for the first, he declined the second and third for re-drawing, but when the fourth ticket was drawn, bowed to the inevitable and collected another prize.
Someone with mathematical skills calculated that with about 200 tickets in the draw, the odds against this happening were about 300,000 to 1!
