THE weather, as usual, was incredibly good to us last Saturday for our annual church fete. There was plenty of hard work from all our volunteers – the fetching, carrying, erecting marquees to name but a few of the tasks.
Wonderful support from our benefice community plus passing trade, which reflected on our takings for the afternoon.
The cake stall raised £265, followed by homemade teas £213.65. Elsewhere, the book stall took £160, white elephant £89, tombola £92, veg and plants £64.93. Entry at the gate raised £95 and a box of chocolates was won by Tracy as the lucky gate prize.
The grand draw and auction raised £619 and the winners were – £50 first prize won by Robert Williams; hamper – Margaret Rogers; whisky – Robin Braund; wine – Manor House; pashmina – Elizabeth Rambridge.
The auction raised £72.40 and the following amounts were raised: fold-up bike £25; cider kit £25; Contreu £11; plant stands £11.
To date £1,801 has been raised, a tremendous effort by all concerned. We were a bit cramped for space but we made it .
Down the road, Berrow Art Club had put on an exhibition of art and pottery in All Saints Church.
