FRIDAY, September 13, sees the next meeting of the Arts and Crafts Group at Welland Village Hall at 7.30pm.
The topic for this meeting (marking the group’s 40th year) is photography.
Please feel free to bring your digital camera!
Saturday, September 14, sees the annual Friends of Welland Dog Show (not Kennel Club-licensed) taking place on Spittalfields/Recreation Ground.
Register from noon. Events start from 1pm.
Entry fee is £2 per class: rosettes to fourth place plus champion and reserve, £10 dog games voucher for every class winner.
Dogs/bitches to be six months and over. Classes include most handsome dog, best condition dog/bitch, best handler under 16, dog/bitch with waggiest tail and best family pet judge would most like to take home.
In addition to these classes there will be a countrywide tunnel challenge timed competition for an additional fee of £1. There will be refreshments and a tombola.

On Saturday and Sunday, September 14 and 15, between 10am to 5pm, St James’ sees the church open for A Miscellany of Interest and Entertainment.
A local artist’s mural of the Malvern Hills and a rare 17th century travelling font can be viewed in the side chapel.
There will be some organ music on Saturday afternoon and instrumental music with songs on Sunday afternoon.
Theatre comes to Welland when Solihull On Stage presents Guys v Dolls in St James’ Church on Friday, September 20, at 7.30pm.
Mixing many favourites from the musical world including a dash of pop, the men and women engage in a battle of the sexes competing through song and dance.

Saturday, September 21, is the next Kids Klobber Sale between 11am and 12.30pm at the village hall.

On September 28 and 29, Tony Leahy’s exhibition of paintings will take place in the church.
The weekend of November 16 and 17 sees the St James Christmas craft fair. The tables cost £15 for the weekend or £10 per day.
