ON Thursday Powick Ramblers embark on an eight-mile walk in the Cotswolds meeting at the White Hart Inn on the High Street in Winchcombe (GL 54 SL1) at 10am.
The hilly walk will pass Sudeley Castle, a Roman villa, Beckbury hillfort, the Cotswold Way via Hailes Abbey and returning to Winchcombe at 3pm.
Please bring a packed lunch. The leader is Bob (01905 831873).
Powick Community Choir recommences on Sunday in Powick Parish Hall from 4.15pm.
Last Sunday a joyful celebration of baptism took place at St Peter’s Church in Powick when Rev Chris Copeland baptised Imogen Amelia and Isla Grace Smith of Byron’s Wood and little Daniel Alexander Freely of Shepperton, London (whose grandparents are Roger and Sally Gurney and Sally Freely).
The address was given by Reader Joan Copeland and both families were supported by friends and relations.
The Friends of Link Nurseries holds another coffee morning next week on Friday, September 13, at 10am, when a demonstration on how to grow and harvest vegetables (and store for winter) will take place. A stall selling vegetables and plants grown at the nurseries was at Powick Church Fete in July; and at the fete in St John’s last Saturday the Friends’ stall was outside the library.
To mark World Mental Health Week (October 6-12) the Friends have produced another quiz about all things plant based at the cost of £1.
The quiz is now available from members of the Friends or from the nurseries and the deadline is October 31.
There will be prizes for the first three correct entries.
Please support the therapeutic and educational work of the nurseries.
