POWICK Ramblers’ next walk is on Thursday, meeting at 10am at the Galton Arms in Himbleton (GR944585).

The four-and-a-half mile historical walk will include Huddington Court associated with the Gunpowder Plot and a Civil War tomb.

It is a flat walk with a few stiles but likely to be boggy!

The leader is Bob.

A Christingle Service is planned for Sunday, February 3 at St James’ Church, Callow End, at 4pm.

All children and families are invited to receive a Christingle orange representing the world with its fruits from the seasons, and the candle representing Jesus as the Light of the World.

In return donations are invited for the Children’s Society. Please ring me to book Christingle orange.

Powick Community Choir held its AGM last Sunday when reports were received, outlining the choir’s successful concerts over the past year.

The committee had decided to retire after three years and new officers were elected: Geoff Plumstead (Chair), Sally Gurney (Vice Chair), Sally Kidd (Secretary), Lucy Bannister (Treasurer) and Monica Muench agreed to continue as publicity officer.

It was said that the privilege of singing at Christmas in the Callow Great Hall was one of the year’s highlights and £600 surplus raised for charity will be split between the Malvern Hills Food Bank and Send a Cow.

Rehearsals continue to be held in Powick Parish Hall on Sundays from 4.15pm.
