Plus pic (taken) THERE was a good turnout as Upton in Bloom hosted a fund-raising Table Top Sale in Memorial Hall on Saturday (February 13).

The sale was one of a series of events being held to raise money for Upton’s entry into the 2010 Heart of England in Bloom campaign.

Upton in Bloom chairman Jackie Surtees said the event went well.

“Quite a few people dropped in for a cup of tea or coffee and to meet friends and have a chat, and we had about 10 tables, including two new contributors,” she said.

A raffle held at the event was also a success.

Upton in Bloom is on the lookout for volunteers to help at its forthcoming working party day on Saturday, February 27.

The group will be meeting at 2pm by the riverside beds near to the pelican crossing on Hanley Road and will be tasked with spreading a large amount of ‘well-rotted’ horse manure that has been donated by David Jeynes of Welland. Any help will be warmly welcomed.
