PRINCESS Anne will be in Worcester next month to witness firsthand the great work of a local brain injury charity.

Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal will be attending Headway Worcestershire on March 2 to officially open its new kitchen and meet some of the brain injury survivors the charity supports.

Headway Worcestershire, which is based in Gregory’s Mill Street, supports brain injury survivors and their families from across the county, providing them with crucial rehabilitation opportunities, as well as the chance to socialise, develop and interact with others with similar challenges.

Jenny West (pictured) receives it’s Outreach Services in her home and also attends the Worcester Well Being Hub.

She sustained a brain injury after a stroke, which resulted in two brain haemorrhages in 2002.

Jenny said: “I am looking forward to seeing The Princess and it will be great that she will see all the ways Headway helps people with brain injuries in this area.

“I really like The Princess Royal – she has a great spirit.”

Another brain injury survivor who will be at the event is Nigel Bourne (pictured).

He also attends Headway Worcester Well Being Hub after sustaining a brain injury when he suffered

a brain haemorrhage in 2000 and was advised he has an aneurism which continues to be monitored.

Nigel said: “I am really looking forward to seeing Her Royal Highness. I love that she does so much good work. It is a very proud moment for everyone at the charity.”

Kathryn Davis, chief executive of Headway Worcestershire, said everyone at the charity is delighted to welcome Her Royal Highness to the charity.

She said: “It will be an opportunity to showcase our outstanding team and for our service users to share their stories with The Princess Royal of how acquired brain injury has changed their lives and their family’s lives, as well as the role Headway plays in supporting their recovery and future life.”
