INTREPID female staff from The Malvern hotel and spa are wondering quite what they have signed up for as they prepare to get mucky for a good cause this weekend.

On Sunday the 10-strong Malvern Mudrunners team from the business will be heading to Eastnor, near Ledbury, to take part in the Mudrunner Oblivion – a gruelling six-mile cross country course interspersed with different tests of strength, endurance and co-ordination.

They are hoping the messy business will help them raise £3,000 for St Richard’s Hospice.

Senior membership consultant Michelle Jenkins said: “None of us have ever done this event before and it seemed like a good way to raise money for a worthy cause. As it has got closer we’re full of anticipation as to what the day will bring. I think it will be harder than we originally thought but we have been doing our training both in the gym here and out on the hills with the Malvern Joggers, who have been a great help to us.”

Anyone who would like to sponsor the Mudrunners can do so online at justgiving.com/The Malvern or by texting TMMR99 followed by the amount they want to donate to 70070.
