A MALVERN subpostmaster has been given an award to mark 30 years’ service with the Post Office.

Nigel Morris of Great Malvern Post Office, Abbey Road, was given the longservice award by regional manager Judy Balderson.

Nigel joined the Post Office straight from school in 1982, working as a counter clerk in Corby and working his way up to the national audit team.

In 1995 Nigel and his wife Sara took the life-changing decision to move to Malvern.

He said: “It was a now-ornever decision’ while the children were still very young, and we haven’t regretted it for a minute.

“Over the years Sara and I have grown the business and it is great to be appreciated by our customers who come to us to buy cards and gifts for all their birthdays and special occasions; now to get this long service recognition from the Post Office is the icing on the cake.”

These days Nigel employs nine people in the branch in Malvern.

The couple also run a post office and shop in Colwall which they re-opened three years ago, in partnership with the local council.

They also run outreach services to Bishop’s Frome, Clifton-on-Teme, Bosbury, and Upper Welland, and provide core Post Office services in Cradley and Callow End using local retail partners.

Regional manager Judy Balderson said: “It’s great to be able to recognise the hard work our subpostmasters put in and would like to congratulate Nigel on his 30 years of service.”
