A CAVALCADE of classic Land Rovers will be taking part in this year's Colwall Ale House Festival.

Local members of the Land Rover Series 1 Club will be helping to celebrate the marque's 70th anniversary by joining in the Colwall Classics Cavalcade from the Malvern Hills down into the streets of Colwall, which opens the festival on Saturday, June 30.

Following the procession, the cars, vintage motorbikes and farm vehicles line up for a display outside Glebe House, opposite the festival venue at St James Church.

Alan Torbet, the cavalcade organiser, said: “It’s fabulous and so nostalgic to see so many local classic vehicles coming together. We start at the Wyche Innovation Centre and drive through the hills, then along Walwyn Road.

"It’s a sight to behold. Then, at the display, each vehicle and its owner has a story to tell of times and travels past.

“This year we are extending an invitation to all owners of local historic vehicles to join us.

"If you’ve got a classic car, Land Rover or commercial vehicle and want to participate, please do join us in this wonderfully nostalgic event.”

The Colwall Ale House Festival starts with a family festival day and is followed by a series of local events celebrating the local Colwall community.

The food and drink fair provides a chance to sample and buy some of the fine food and drink made locally by small specialist producers.

There will be plenty more to eat and drink, including a pig roast, ales, barbecue, cream teas, and snacks.

The church will be offering the chance to have a go at bellringing and playing the organ, and there will also be a sale of arts and crafts.

The Field of Fun will include great family entertainment and the chance to take part in cycling, archery and much more.

The Colwall Ale House is a 16th century hall next to the churchyard. It continues to be used by the community after nearly 500 years.
