THE riverside in Upton has been enhanced with another business venture, as a new tapas restaurant opened on the water front.

The Boathouse officially opened earlier this month, along with a renovated bar too, and was celebrated at a special launch night which included live bands, entertainment and a make-your-own-cocktail service.

Kyle Hassall, owner of the restaurant, said: "We look forward to the challenge in making the restaurant a success.

"We hope to stay open throughout the year, as even in the winter the views from the balcony bar are spectacular."

The Mayor of Upton, Peter Webb, was also in attendance on Friday, October 17, and says The Boathouse will help make the riverside a "thriving" attraction once again.

He said: "Based upon the theme of a Tapas bar , the restaurant offers an international menu, and the launch night saw the rebirth of the riverside as a thriving attraction for visitors and residents alike."
