A PET food company in Bromsgrove has been awarded a Queen's Award for International Trade for its growing success abroad.

The First Class Pet Company - the team behind Little BigPaw complete wet foods - was announced as one of the winners of the Queen's Awards for Enterprise on Her Majesty's birthday on April 21.

Little BigPaw co-founder and director Jim Weston said: "We are absolutely thrilled to receive this award. It is a huge honour and an outstanding reward for all the hard work put in by our staff and dedicated distributors.

"We have a tremendous team who passionately aim to deliver the very highest standards and to grow Little BigPaw into the leading British-made pet food brand."

Little BigPaw's premium range of wet foods and treats are all made in the UK using British ingredients.

Launched in 2014, the brand uses only natural ingredients and high levels of meat to create its grain and wheat-free products.

The head office in Marlbrook comprises just five members of staff.

Co-founder and director David Alton said: "We are a small company and feel very humbled to be given such a prestigious award.

"It’s a great tribute to the hard work of our employees and Little BigPaw distributors over the last 3 years.

"This is a huge recognition for the business. It really feels like we are starting to make an impact in the international pet industry."

Jim and David have more than 50 years experience between them in the pet trade, and now sell Little BigPaw products in 30 countries worldwide.
