HUNDREDS of women kitted out in pink put their best feet forward in the last ever night time charity walk for a Kidderminster hospice.

A record attendance of almost 300 women took part in the Kemp Hospice ‘Midnight Walk’ at the weekend which involved a 5km walk through the forest and raised thousands of pounds.

They were also treated to a live concert featuring the hits of singing superstar Adele, performed by tribute artist Natalie Ann Black. There was also a forest disco which saw Signal 107 breakfast show presenter Dicky Dodd compere.

The annual event has been running since 2007 and over the last decade has raised in excess of £300,000 for the hospice.

This weekend’s Midnight Walk marked the final one for the local charity, ahead of their 50th anniversary next year.

Kemp’s event fundraiser Shelley Stanley said: “We’ve been running these women-only walks for over ten years now but this year really was a magical evening.

“It was more than just a fundraising event, it was a chance for the women of the Wyre Forest to stand together for a common cause and raise their voices as well as money.

“With pledged donations we will hopefully have raised over £20,000, which will be a much needed boost for the work of Kemp.

“Every penny raised helps us to support more and more people here in the Wyre Forest district who are dealing with life-limiting illness or bereavement. On behalf of those people, and their families I want to thank every woman who took part.”

She also thanked Natalie, Dicky Dodd and all the event sponsors who helped make it possible.

Participants are asked to send their sponsorship money back to Kemp Hospice before July 2.
