MORE than a quarter of a million will be spent on resurfacing car parks in Evesham and Droitwich over the next two years.

Around £280,000 is to be spent on resurfacing car parks, including £50,000 spent on resurfacing Chapel Street car park in Evesham in 2018 and £200,000 on resurfacing the access road at Crown Meadow in 2019.

Covercroft in Droitwich will see £20,000 invested in rebuilding the wall and steps whilst £10,000 will be invested in Rickets Lane Car Park in Droitwich to improve the access ramp.

Work has been described as - “essential”- as not resurfacing the car parks has the potential to cause damage to vehicles. The cost of the works will be met from capital receipts.

Recent resurfaces have included Pershore High Street and Bewdley Street, Evesham.

Cllr Lynne Duffy, portfolio holder for the car park work, said: “This work will greatly benefit those who use the car parks - it is vital for both the community and tourists.”
