A VAN driver rushed to hospital in a serious condition after crashing into a house in Carters Lane, Halesowen.

Emergency services were called to the scene near to the junction of Royal Oak Road shortly after 9.45am on Monday January 22.

West Midlands Ambulance Service sent two ambulances and a paramedic officer to the scene, while a helicopter from Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance also attended.

An ambulance service spokesman said: “Crews arrived to find the van driver, a man, in cardiac arrest. Bystanders told staff that it appeared the man had suffered a medical episode at the wheel prior to the collision.

“An off-duty fire officer was already performing CPR which ambulance staff took over as well as administering advanced life support.

“The air crew travelled with the man on the back of the land ambulance to help administer further emergency treatment as he was conveyed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, in a serious condition.”
