AN award-winning instrumental trio who blend Celtic folk music with strands of rock, Americana and Eastern European tradition are performing at Neen Sollars Victory Hall tomorrow.

Acoustic trio Whalebone were due at Neen Sollars in December as part their tour promoting their album Mirabilia, but that concert was postponed due to the heavy snowfalls. The band are known for using more unusual instruments alongside traditional guitars and fiddle, with five-string violin, eight-string baritone guitar, mandolin and bouzouki all featuring in their music. “We love to bring different sounds and genres together” said violinist Sarah Ibberson, who will be joined onstage by acoustic guitarists Steve Downs and Charlotte Watson. Tickets are £10. and are available from Graham on 01299 271161 or online at www.ticketsource.co.uk/whalebone.
